Description

Le Centre Pompidou présentera du 16 janvier au 8 avril 2002, dans la Galerie d'art graphique. niveau 4, une confrontation originale et sans précédent d'une centaine de «dessins de plantes» - une quarantaine pour l'artiste américain Ellsworth Kelly. une soixantaine pour Henri Matisse — inédits pour la plupart. Cette manifestation s'inscrira en contrepoint de l'exposition Matisse-Picasso, qui aura lieu à Londres. Paris. New York au cours de l'année 2002. En proposant un autre face à face, elle viendra ainsi nourrir, d'une manière critique. la réflexion engagée sur l'héritage américain de l'oeuvre matissienne et posera la question spécifique de la fonction du dessin chez Kelly face à celle du dessin de Matisse.
